Nebraska vs Troy score: Cornhuskers led by Scott Frost drop to 0-2 for the first time since 1957

The return of Scott Frost to Lincoln as a Nebraska coach was one of the most famous coaches of the off season. After all, the former Cornhuskers quarterback was back, leading the UCF to a season without defeat and a win over Auburn at Peach Bowl. He would be the cure for all the ills of Nebraska, right?

In two games, not so much as the Cornhuskers fell against the Troy 24-19 on Saturday afternoon, falling to 0-2 on the season – the first 0-2 start of the program since 1957.

Real quarterback Adrian Martinez, who injured his leg in the fourth quarter of the loss to Colorado, did not face the Trojans. In his place, Andrew Bunch managed 19 passes on 27 passes for 177 yards and two touchdowns, but launched two critical interceptions. The crew of Frost did not do much to help Bunch either. They made 10 penalties for 77 yards and only had 3.9 yards per run.

It's a really difficult situation for Frost. Not only does the brilliance fade quickly enough, but Martinez's injury is the worst scenario for the quarterback position after former quarterback Tristan Gebbia of Cornhuskers was transferred after losing his employment.

That does not mean that Frost can not change things. Maybe he can. But the difficult start to his career in Nebraska indicates that even in a division like the Big Ten West – which is certainly not the most difficult of the Power Five – the reconstruction work will take a lot of time.

The discipline was a problem Saturday, the position of the quarter is dangerous, and the transition between the air raid of Mike Riley and Frost will take more than one season.

Patience is a virtue, Cornhuskers fans.
