A 12-year-old Ohio boy who runs his own lawn mower business gained more customers after a neighbor called the police to shear his part of his yard.
Lucille Holt, a Maple Heights resident, hired 12-year-old Reginald Fields, owner of Reggie's lawn mowing service, to mow his lawn Saturday, she told ABC Cleveland affiliate WEWS .
Reginald's cousins often help him to work, and one of the neighbors called the police after the group of kids accidentally cut off some of their lawn, said Holt in a Facebook video that she published Saturday.
"They called the police to tell the police that the children were cutting their grass," said Holt. "Who do this?"
The lawn apparently referred to by the neighbors is between Holt's house and theirs. There is no fence there to mark where the property starts and ends.
"I guess I have a line there, it's not part of my yard," Holt said.
The video showed a police car parked in front of Holt's house and two neighbors sweeping the debris from their driveway. Holt said that in the past, neighbors called the police when his children were throwing snowballs and another time his son "cried because he was getting a hand."
"You called the police to get the children out [are] and cut the grass that was not part of our turf?" Holt said. "I do not know which part is my grass and which part is your grass."
She continued, "They should be happy that these kids are not there to break the windows of their cars," says Holt. "They should be happy that the children [aren’t] are stealing their cars here."
Holt then asks one of the boys how old he is. When he answers that he is 9 years old and went to school with one of the neighbors, she congratulates him for being productive.
"I'm so happy [you’re] to do something positive," she says.
A police officer then comes to talk to Holt, asking him if they can "go around the corner so you do not have to look at you while I'm talking to you".
When Holt asks why, the officer says, "Because I do not want it to become something, I'm trying to make it easy for everyone.
The Maple Heights Police Service did not immediately respond to ABC News's request for comment. WEWS reached out to the neighbors, who said they saw the video but declined to comment further.
Holt finished the video saying that she was "so angry right now that these babies [are] are going through there – appealing to the police because they are cutting grass ".
Reginald did not realize that he was cutting off the neighbor's grass, he told WEWS.
"They said I cut their grass," he said. "I did not know!"
Since the incident, which has been seen more than 150,000 times on Facebook since Friday, Reginald has received more business calls than ever from anywhere in the city, he said. .
"People send me a mailbox," How can I contact these children? Where are they? I have assets that I want these kids to cut off, "Holt said.
Reginald told the local station that he planned to save the money he had earned to buy new equipment and expand his business.
On Friday, Holt posted a video showing Reginald receiving a new lawn mower and a leaf blower. community members who have seen his video.
