Neil Armstrong's family auctioning personal artifacts

DAYTON, Ohio (AP) – Fans of flying will soon have the opportunity to acquire items from the personal collection of artifacts of astronaut Neil Armstrong.

The family of the first man to walk on the moon will auction over 2,000 of his personal souvenirs during a series of sales by Heritage Auctions of Dallas, starting next month, the Dayton Daily announced. News.

The collection of this man from Ohio includes pieces from the flyer of the Wright brothers who were the pioneers of powered flight in 1903. Armstrong took fragments of the flyer with him during his Apollo 11 mission on the moon in 1969.

The Armstrong family collection also includes a centennial flag from Armstrong University, Purdue University.

One of Armstrong's sons, Mark Armstrong, explains that some items in the collection are historically important, while others will produce bursts of laughter.

Armstrong died in 2012.
