Neil deGrasse Tyson supports the idea of ​​Trump's space force

Astrophysicist Neil de Grasse Tyson defends President Trump's Space Force plan.

According to TIME, the Trump administration has presented a plan to make Space Force the sixth branch of the US military in August.

Critics say the US does not need a military presence in space, but Tyson told Stephen Colbert at The Late Show that America already had one: "The United States Space Command is under the auspices of the Air Force! We already have a presence in the space!

The Hill reports that the United States Space Command was founded in 1985 and allows the air force to launch satellites and undertake other defensive activities in space.

Tyson went on to say, "It's not because he's out of Trump's mouth that he has to be crazy!"

The goal would be to make this space force a reality by 2020.
