Through its NXOnline Twitter account, Netflix confirmed the first details of its acquisition of Neon Genesis Evangelion, the series that has managed to retain generations of fans although it has been officially depleted since 2010. According to the account, the acquisition has episodes of the television series as well as the movies End of Evangelion and Death / Rebirth.

It should also be noted that Netflix has acquired worldwide broadcast rights for the series and films, marking the first time that the TV series Evangelion and accompanying films are available on a broadcast platform outside of Japan. The series was sold out outside Japan with the release of the first Eva Rebuild movie in 2010 and was not officially made available until the release of the exclusive Japanese box set in 2015. The series and movies should be launched on Netflix in the spring of 2019.
