Emma Roberts will star in a dramatic ice skating series commissioned from Netflix, Variety has learned.

The series, "Spinning Out", portrays Roberts as Kat Baker, a fast-growing, high-level single skater who is about to turn her skates after a disastrous crash that drove her off the track. . When Kat takes the opportunity to pursue her career as a pair skater with a talented bad-boy partner, she risks exposing a fiercely secretive secret that could upset her entire life. On the ice and on the ice, Kat and her new partner will face tremendous hardship, physical and bodily injury, financial sacrifice and even possible mental depression before realizing their Olympic dream.

Netflix has ordered 10 episodes.

The series was created by Samantha Stratton, who will be an executive producer and co-host alongside Lara Olsen. Tory Tunnell and Joby Harold of Safehouse Pictures will also be executive producers, with Matt Schwartz of the co-executive producer.

Roberts is currently featured in "American Horror Story: Apocalypse," having already appeared in several previous seasons in the Ryan Murphy anthology series. She also collaborated with Murphy on the Fox series "Scream Queens". Roberts is perhaps best known for his role in the Nickelodeon series "Unfabulous".
