Locke & Key finally arrives on television. In May, reports showed that Netflix was developing the project for a series, after Hulu chose to forward a pilot that he had ordered. Now, according to The Hollywood Reporter (via io9 ), the streaming service resumed the show for a season of 10 episodes.
The IDW comics series was created by horror writer Joe Hill and artist Gabriel Rodriguez, and revolves around the Locke family, who is moving to their ancestral home in Lovecraft, Maine, after the murder of the patriarch of the family. The three children – Tyler, Kinsey and Bode – discover that the house is filled with many magical touches that give the user special powers, and that powerful dark forces try to acquire them to free an evil presence on the world. . THR says the Netflix version is a remake of the Hulu pilot. Carlton Cuse will continue to act as a showrunner and will be joined by Meredith Averill ( The Good Wife ), who will be co-showrunner. Star Trek: Discovery writer Aaron Eli Coleite also joined the project, and will rewrite the pilot episode with Hill.
