Happy birthday from hell.
Netflix released its first teaser for a remake of "Sabrina the Teenage Witch" called "Chilling Adventures of Sabrina", created by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, showrunner of "Riverdale".
And, from the point of view of the little clip, this is his 90s predecessor, sweet but kitsch.
The teaser is filled with occult images, magical incantations and a birthday party filled with guests that will make you want to dry yourself in the holy water. Or snuggle a kitten. Or both.
One page of the script, which Aguirre-Sacasa featured on Instagram last October, and an official image of the series aired by Netflix in August, may explain why this anniversary is so important in the series.
In the official image, we can see the protagonist of the show, Sabrina (former actress of "Mad Men" Kiernan Shipka), kneeling in the woods in a white dress in what appears to be a kind of ritual.

In the revealed page of the screenplay, Sabrina shows Harvey's character (played by Ross Lynch) as a "grove of trees" where she was born and tells her that she will "be reborn" at the same place on her 16th birthday.
We suspect that Sabrina is going to have the funny Sweet Sixteen.
But, alas, we will have to wait until October 26 to confirm it, but until then, come back with this scary wrong special effect of the original series.
