New England Patriots beat Buffalo Bills again

Since the Bills’ New Era Field opened in 1973, only two quarterbacks have won more games there than Tom Brady, who helped the New England Patriots take a 25-6 victory over Buffalo on Monday night.

With his 15th victory at New Era, Brady trails only former Bills quarterbacks Jim Kelly and Joe Ferguson in victories at the stadium. New England has won on its past seven trips to Buffalo.

Brady also became the first player to pass for at least 300 yards against the Bills in 16 games by completing 29-of-45 passes for 324 yards with no touchdowns and no interceptions.

But the game was dominated by defense. Through three quarters, the only scoring had come on six field goals, with New England leading 12-6.

The Patriots scored two touchdowns in the fourth quarter, but one of them came on defense. Safety Devin McCourty returned an interception 84 yards for a touchdown with 5:54 remaining to put the game away.

New England’s defense kept Buffalo out of the end zone without linebacker Dont’a Hightower. The former Alabama All-American was something of a surprise among the Patriots’ seven game-day inactives, although the injury report showed him as a limited participant in practice last week with a knee problem.

Left defensive end Trey Flowers, a former Columbia High School standout, had a full stat line for the Patriots, recording six tackles, two tackles for loss, two quarterback hits and a tipped pass.

Flowers was one of five former Alabama high school and college players who got on the field during the game:

· Patriots cornerback Jonathan Jones (Auburn) made two tackles.

· Patriots linebacker Brandon King (Thompson, Auburn) made three tackles on special teams.

· Bills linebacker Deon Lacey (Hueytown, West Alabama) played but did not record any stats.

· Bills safety Siran Neal (Eufaula, Jacksonville State) played but did record any stats.
