The newborn daughter of New Orleans Saints offensive lineman Jermon Bushrod has died, he wrote in an article posted on Twitter on Saturday.
Jordyn Lynn Bushrod had a week, said Bushrod, when she passed away last Thursday.
"My heart was broken," he wrote on Twitter. "We will overcome this with faith, family and friends."
My heart was broken. My granddaughter Jordyn Lynn Bushrod passed away on Thursday, October 18th. She was only there for a week but we were ready to love her unconditionally. We will overcome this with faith, family and friends. Thank you for the prayers and the support pic.twitter.com/VZjoc7vXZe

Bushrod missed practice on Thursday and Friday and did not make the trip to Baltimore on Saturday. A goalkeeper / relief striker, he was demoted.
Bushrod is a 12-year veteran who played for the Saints, Bears and Dolphins before signing back with New Orleans as a free agent this year.
