The New York Jets are doubling their gaming sponsorships.

Woody Johnson's team announced on Wednesday that it has appointed MGM Resorts International as its official gaming partner.

This comes as the team is about to announce a signed sponsorship deal with online casino operator 888 Holdings this week and is still looking for a partner to fantastic game, said sources close to the situation.

The multi-year agreement with MGM Resorts is the most comprehensive and integrated NFL gaming partnership to date.

"We could not be more excited to partner with the New York Jets for a unique partnership in the NFL," said Jim Murren, President and CEO of MGM Resorts.

The MGM agreement includes the introduction of the mobile application game "I Called It". This game is designed for Jets fans. It allows users to play for free so that the Jets can stay in compliance with the NFL's policy of not advertising sports betting sites.

This season, the NFL has overturned the long-running ban on casino advertising in response to the Supreme Court ruling last May that overturned the federal ban on sports betting.

At the same time, NFL rules still prohibit advertising for sports betting sites with exceptions for sports venues in stadiums and on NFL broadcasts.

The critics for 888.com – the gaming site operated by 888 Holdings – are getting closer to advertising for sports betting.

During the Jets-Bears game last Sunday, the ads did not mention 888sport, the sports betting site of the company.

The 888.com site contains links to sportsbook, poker and casino portals.

The Jets have not responded to calls regarding this story.
