After Max Scherzer scored his point of view in the race race NL Cy Young with his 300th crossed outJacob deGrom provided the counterpoint one night later by throwing eight laps and ending his season with a staggering 1.70 ERA.

As it has been all season, deGrom has dominated once again – setting a league record for the league with his 24th consecutive quality start. Against the Atlanta champion, the Atlanta Braves, he only allowed two goals (the two singles) and eliminated 10.

From a traditional point of view, the biggest attack against deGrom in the Cy Young race was his record of wins, but when Seth Lugo completed the 3-0 shutout with a ninth scoreless run, DeGrom finished the Year with a 10-9 win. Mark.

He pulled out the last 20 batters he faced, and his last withdrawal in the eighth was also the 1000th of his career.

DeGrom's ERA is the lowest for a starting pitcher from Mets since Dwight Gooden (1.53) in his 1985 season, winner of Cy Young.

Since 1970, only nine other participants have had ARBs below 1.80.

– Tom Seaver: 1.76 in 1971
– Ron Guidry: 1.74 in 1978
– Nolan Ryan: 1.69 in 1981
– Dwight Gooden: 1.53 in 1985
– Greg Maddux: 1.56 in 1994
– Greg Maddux: 1.63 in 1995
– Pedro Martinez: 1.74 in 2000
– Clayton Kershaw: 1.77 in 2014
– Zack Greinke: 1.66 in 2015
– Jake Arrieta: 1.77 in 2015

Of this group, only Seaver, Ryan and Greinke failed to win the Cy Young Award from their league.
