New York State Police issued an Amber Alert (PDF) on Thursday afternoon, noting that the girl, who had been last seen with light red jeans, a white tank top, and a white bag. pale-colored back. Update: The Ambert Alert was canceled this afternoon and George Torres, 19, of Stapleton, in Staten Island, was accused of endangering the welfare of a child. Torres apparently dropped Malaya, which he picked up from his college, at the Staten Island Ferry Terminal.
According to WABC 7, "NYPD Detective Chief Dermot Shea said that Torres initially believed the girl was 18, but when he came to pick her up, it turned out that it was fake … gave a tour, said that they had an idea of where the girl was going to New York.The other man was released after being interrogated. Malaysia reportedly called her family to tell her that she would not be coming back.
