Jose Peralta, who represented parts of Queens in the New York State Senate and was the first senator of the US-Dominican state, died. He was 47 years old.
Peralta died Wednesday night at Elmhurst Hospital, according to his spokesman. As the tributes poured in, the details of Mr. Peralta's death were not immediately available on Thursday.
