After getting married in 1981, Princess Diana and Prince Charles had one of the most outrageous marriages in the history of the royal family. The Prince and Princess of Wales separated in 1992 and eventually divorced in 1996 after the birth of their two sons, Prince William and Prince Harry. During their controversial marriage and split, Charles and Diana were victims of speculation about infidelity while their relationship was under close scrutiny.

A member of the royal family who knew exactly what passed through the late Diana was Prince Philip, according to the royal documentary "The Princes of the Palace".
Biographer Tim Heald explained how Diana could have been successful in the monarchy had she adopted Philip 's approach.
He said: "What went wrong more than anything with Diana [is that] nobody tells you anything at all.
"One of the amazing successes is [what Prince Philip has made of his life, and] no one told him either – he knew instinctively how to behave.
"Nothing is said to other intruders, and I think it was finally the great tragedy of Princess Diana."
Writer and TV host Penny Junor explained how Diana "lived in a romantic world", which made her less sure of her judgment about the reality of marriage in the monarchy.
It is believed that Diana felt that her royal life would be "a romantic novel".
However, the reality of the royal life was extremely different, which was made more difficult because "she did not have a support system, no family around her".
William and Harry's mother was upset because of her childhood, says Ms. Junor.
In the documentary, she reveals how Prince Charles had trouble knowing what to do with his wife and how he blamed himself.
It is said that the prince abandoned friends that Diana did not like and even fired staff that the young princess did not warmly welcome.
"He did everything in his power to make her happy, but he could not make her happy, nothing could make her happy," says Penny Junor.
It was after that it appeared that the Queen and Prince Philip blamed Charles for the bankruptcy of his marriage.
