Week 2 of the season has arrived and NFL ratings have evolved as the launch and news approaches. The Patriots and Jaguars kiss in Florida in the return leg of last season. The line is a pick & em for 4:25 pm ET starts after the gap has moved as high as Patriots -2.5. Meanwhile, Green Bay fans hold their breath in hopes that quarterback Aaron Rodgers is healthy enough to play Sunday in the NFC North battle against the Vikings. The Packers enter Sunday's showdown as a favorite at one point in some books and neglected in others. With so much uncertainty and so many NFL ratings oscillating from one side to the other, you will want to see the choices and predictions of the NFL from the advanced SportsLine computer model.
This proprietary computer model rose 176-80 last season and beat over 95% of the CBS Office Pool players in 2016 and 2017. It also achieved a performance superior to 98% of the experts followed by NFLPickWatch. com during this period. In addition, it was 48-34 against last season's A-class playoff, and the $ 100 bettors who have followed the last two seasons have raised close to $ 4,000.
He finished the first week in force, scoring three of his last four picks, including supporting the Jets (+281) on the silver line in the 48-17 win against the Lions on Monday night.
Now, he has simulated all the shots of Week 2 of the 2018 NFL season 10,000 times and his second week NFL choices are underway.
An NFL choice of week 2, the model likes: the Eagles (-3) eliminates the Buccaneers on the road.
Nick Foles continues to replace Carson Wentz and the model says he is pushing 300 yards and two touchdowns. The Bucs get 263 yards of Ryan Fitzpatrick, who was impressive in the place of Jameis Winston (suspension) in Week 1, but the Eagles win 62% of the time and cover more than half of the simulations. Move back the underlying (44) too, as it strikes more than 60% of the time.
Another of the top picks in the second week of the NFL is the Rams (-12.5) win the Cardinals, but it will be tighter than expected in Vegas. Of all the NFL gaps this week, 12.5 is the biggest, but do not expect the Rams to cover.
After opening the score at 10.5 points, the line gained two points in favor of Los Angeles. The reason: The Cardinals were embarrassed at home by the Redskins, while the Rams looked strong in their 33-13 win over the Raiders on Monday night.
But the movement of the NFL ratings has created a lot of value on Arizona, depending on the model. The computer predicts that Sam Bradford will rebound and will throw 216 yards and a touchdown, while Larry Fitzgerald ahead of the team in receiving yards for the second week in a row. Offensive David Johnson heals a back injury, but practiced this week.
The model also calls for a huge day for both Jared Goff (246 passing yards and a touchdown) and Todd Gurley, who plans to have more than 120 multi-purpose yards. However, the cardinals cover the spread in about 60% of the simulations and there is also value on the Under (45) because it represents more than 50% of the simulations.
The model also has a solid choice to see for the huge rematch between the Patriots and the Jaguars, and asks a big competitor of the Super Bowl to be shocked on the road by a huge underdog.
What NFL choices can you confidently make in the second week? Check out the latest NFL odds and visit SportsLine to see which NFL teams have won more than 50% of the simulations, all on the model that has beaten 98% of the experts in the past two years.
