NFL Power Rankings Week 3: Chiefs, Bears and Rams Rising

[ad_1]

If you want to know the status of our NFL power rankings, consider that the Bills beat the Vikings 27-6 as one of the many surprising results of the third week. points that their own spread.

These are moments like these where an exercise that is often discussed with ESPN Ryen Russillo is useful. Imagine being an alien and the first NFL game you watched was the Bills-Vikings last weekend. You would leave thinking that the bills are one of the best teams in the league. It shows how things can change from week to week in the NFL. Who knows, the stranger might be right since the Bills could be at the beginning of a series of wins. Chances are it was a good week, and the bills we usually see will appear sooner rather than later.

There are 10 teams with a 2-1 record and four other undefeated teams. While I try to pick the top 10 teams in the NFL, the power rankings are about the top 10 teams in the league as well as the people who are necessarily the best. There will be teams ranked on this list above the teams with whom they lost. How can this be possible, you can ask?

The simple answer is that we try to rank the best teams for the entire season, not just a week. The face-off may serve as a tiebreaker if two teams are equal, but this is not the number one criterion. If you only used one-on-one teams, you would not be able to have a functional power ranking in the middle of the season, as the teams would cancel all.

It's still the world of Patrick Mahomes

At some point, there must be a regression for Patrick Mahomes, right? Not far off, while Mahomes had 314 yards and three touchdowns, the Chiefs had a perfect 3-0 record with a decisive victory over the 49ers.

Mahomes will have bad matches coming up at one time or another, but take advantage of watching a young quarterback rather than trying to figure out where he ranks against the NFL veterans after three games. The offensive midfielder, Kareem Hunt, believes that the success of the leaders is due to the combination of their weapons and their ability to play Mahomes.

"We have a bunch of guns and Pat is only a competitor," Hunt told ESPN. "I knew it from the day we met when we were gathered, and we said one day that we were going to take over the kingdom of chiefs."

The kingdom of chiefs, indeed. According to NFL Network, the Chiefs have scored 118 points in three games, the sixth highest since 1970. In other words, the Kansas City offense is set at a historic pace.
