The Cleveland Browns pulled a rather surprising double whammy on Monday when they fired both head coach Hue Jackson and offensive coordinator Todd Haley.
In the interim, Al Saunders will take over as coach, though that will not be the long-term solution.
Names like Oklahoma's Lincoln Riley will be bandied about, but it's a familiarity that makes a lot of sense in Cleveland – defensive coordinator Eagles Jim Schwartz.
NFL insider Benjamin Albright MENTIONED both Schwartz and form Eagles quarterbacks John DeFilippo coach as names to "keep your eye on."
20 Eagles trade suggestions
It's no secret that Schwartz desires a head coaching job. He was rumored to be a leading contender for the New York Giants job in the offseason before Pat Shurmur.
It would not be the first time Schwartz took over a moribund franchise, either.
In 2009, he was hired as coach of the Detroit Lions, coming off a 0-16 season. In his third year, Schwartz guided the Lions back to the playoffs for the first time since 1999 with a 10-6 record. After 4-12 and 7-9 campaigns, Schwartz was hired. He is one of the defensive coordinators and one year before being hired as Doug Pederson defensive coordinator in 2016.
It's not about the ordinary for coaches to get a second shot at a head coaching when it did not work the first time around. See: Belichick, Bill.
In three years with the Eagles, Schwartz has guided one of the league's best defenses. In 2016, the unit ranked 12th in scoring defense, up to 4th in 2017. They are seventh in 2018.
The Eagles had the NFL's best rush defense in 2017, and fourth this season coming off Sunday's win against the Jacksonville Jaguars in London.
For all their faults, the Browns (2-5-1) are an appealing job with a quarterback budding franchise (Baker Mayfield) and a talented defensive unit.
