NFL standings: Saints rank first and Patriots second

[ad_1]

We have a brand new team in first place this week, which should happen every time the Rams lose. They simply found themselves defeated by the Saints, who had been our No. 2 team, which facilitated the search for a new No. 1. New Orleans became the fifth different team to claim first place this year. In week 1-4, he belonged to the Patriots, Jaguars, Chiefs and Rams. The first three teams lasted only a week before the Rams started to race. Will the saints be able to stay for a moment? Time will tell us.

There was not a lot of movement in the poll this week, with most teams staying at one or two places last week. The biggest opponents were the Redskins, who lost five places. And the biggest risers were the Falcons and, believe it or not, the 49ers, who jumped three places each.

1. SAINTS OF NEW ORLEANS (7-1)

Last week's rank: 2
Points in the survey: 224
Highest Vote: 1 (7)
Lowest Vote: 1 (7)
Last week: Victory 45-35 against the Los Angeles Rams
Next week: Cincinnati

You beat the best, you become the best. The Saints were second in our standings before spoiling the perfect Rams season. So naturally we have a new team at the top of the list.

2. PATRIOTTES NEW ENGLAND (7-2)

Last Week's Rank: 4
Points in the poll: 215
Highest Vote: 2 (5)
Lowest vote: 3 (2)
Last week: Victory 31-17 against Green Bay
Next week: Tennessee

Remember when the Patriots were outside our Top 10? One of these years, we will learn not to erase them after a slow start. The Patriots have not only skipped the Rams this week, but also the leaders.

BREER: Who answered the call? Week 9 in the NFL

3. LOS ANGELES RAMS (8-1)

Last Week's Rank: 1
Points in the poll: 208
Highest Vote: 2 (1)
Lowest vote: 4 (3)
Last week: 45-35 defeat to New Orleans
Next week: vs Seattle

The five-week race at the Rams summit is over. They may still be the best football team, despite the shootout loss to New Orleans, but of course they have to take a shot here.

4. KANSAS CITY LEADERS (8-1)

Last week's rank: 3
Points in the poll: 207
Highest Vote: 2 (1)
Lowest vote: 4 (4)
Last week: Cleveland win 37-21
Next week: vs. Arizona

The Chiefs have taken care of business against Cleveland and they still have a focus game against Arizona before the big clash with the Rams on Monday, Nov. 12 in Mexico City. It may be a bit unfair that they have lost ground here, but they are clearly in the top four and will have a chance to get those places.

5. CAROLINE PANTHERS (6-2)

Last week's rank: 5
Points in the survey: 195
Highest Vote: 5 (6)
Lowest Voting: 6 (1)
Last week: Victory 42-28 against Tampa Bay
Next week: Pittsburgh

The Panthers may have been more affected by the Saints' victory over the Rams. The winner of the NFC South will likely have a first-round pass and the team that occupies second place should survive at least two playoff games on the road.

6. PITTSBURGH STEELERS (5-2-1)

Last week's rank: 6
Points in the survey: 190
Highest Vote: 5 (1)
Lowest vote: 6 (6)
Last Week: 23-16 win in Baltimore
Next week: vs. Carolina

The Steelers have now won four straight games in a tough Thursday night game against the Panthers.

7. LOS ANGELES LOADERS (6-2)

Last week's rank: 7
Points in Poll: 181
Highest Vote: 7 (6)
Lowest Voting: 8 (1)
Last week: 25-17 win in Seattle
Next week: Oakland

It's hard to keep winning tight games without a reliable kicker – Chargers fans know this – but this year, at least, everything seems to be going well.

8. MINNESOTA VIKINGS (5-3-1)

Last week's rank: 9
Points in the poll: 175
Highest Vote: 7 (1)
Lowest Voting: 9 (1)
Last week: 24-9 win over Detroit
Next week: Goodbye

The Minnesota defense we were waiting all year. The Vikings enter the week off as the favorites of our panel in the north of the NFC.

9. PHILADELPHIA EAGLES (4-4)

Last week's rank: 10
Points in the survey: 169
Highest Vote: 8 (1)
Lowest vote: 9 (6)
Last week: goodbye
Next week: vs Dallas

The Eagles had a nice gift with the loss of Washington during their week off. (To be honest, the defeats of Dallas, Green Bay and Seattle.) But the division remains the main focus for now. Five of their last eight games are against NFC East, starting with Dallas coming to Philly for a short week.

10. HOUSTON TEXANS (6-3)

Last week's rank: 12
Points in the survey: 159
Highest Vote: 10 (5)
Lowest vote: 11 (2)
Last Week: 19-17 win in Denver
Next week: Goodbye

The Texans have won six consecutive games and they have two easy matches to play. They have not only taken orders in the southern AFC countries, but they are taking part in a preliminary round in the first round in the AFC, which was unthinkable a month ago.

11. GREEN BAY PACKERS (3-4-1)

Last week's rank: 8
Points in Poll: 148
Highest Vote: 10 (2)
Lowest vote: 16 (1)
Last week: 31-17 defeat in New England
Next week: vs Miami

The Packers had the chance to make a real statement against the Rams or the Patriots, but lost both games. We knew from the beginning of the season that the NFC was very deep and that a good team or two could be ruined by the playoff photo. The Packers are not part of the NFC elite teams and may be crushed.

12. FALCONS OF ATLANTA (4-4)

Last week's rank: 15
Points in the poll: 145
Highest Vote: 11 (1)
Lowest vote: 14 (1)
Last week: 38-14 win in Washington
Next week: Cleveland

And they did it up to .500 and up to the playoff race. The Falcons were far too talented to retreat, and our rankings reflected it even when they were 1-4.

13. CHICAGO BEAR (5-3)

Last week's rank: 14
Points in the survey: 142
Highest Vote: 11 (1)
Lowest vote: 14 (3)
Last week: 41-9 win at Buffalo
Next week: Detroit vs

It's just Buffalo, but a 41-9 win is always welcoming and encouraging. Bears move from one place.

14. CINCINNATI BENGALS (5-3)

Last week's rankings: T-16
Points in the poll: 131
Highest Vote: 13 (2)
Lowest vote: 15 (4)
Last week: goodbye
Next week: vs. New Orleans

A.J. The Green News is not what the Bengal fans were hoping to hear on Sunday morning from their week off. But someone must claim the sixth seed of the AFC and, at present, the Bengals have it.

15. SEATTLE SEAHAWKS (4-4)

Last week's rank: 13
Points in the survey: 128
Highest Vote: 13 (4)
Lowest Vote: 19 (1)
Last Week: Defeat 25-17 against Los Angeles Chargers
Next week: Los Angeles Rams

The Seahawks are still hard to play in Seattle, but the Rams 'and Chargers' low home defeats this season are a missed opportunity. Now they played the next three at the Rams, against the Packers, at the Panthers.

16. WASHINGTON REDSKINS (5-3)

Last week's rank: 11
Points in Poll: 120
Highest Vote: 15 (2)
Lowest Vote: 17 (1)
Last Week: Defeat 38-14 against Atlanta
Next week: Tampa Bay

Here is the loss of the Redskins expected by our panel. No fan base has been more eloquent in recent weeks to let us know they did not feel respected. We expect to see fewer of them this week, although they will still be sorry to be seven places behind Philly.

BREER: Redskins hit hard by injuries, Le'Veon Bell in motion, more news and notes

17. BALTIMORE RAVENS (4-5)

Last week's rankings: T-16
Points in Poll: 106
Highest Vote: 14 (1)
Lowest Voting: 20 (3)
Last Week: Defeat 23-16 against Pittsburgh
Next week: Goodbye

The losses suffered by the Saints, Panthers and Steelers are understandable, but giving up the three rows in a row is a brutal turn for a season that began so promising.

18. JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS (3-5)

Last week's rankings: T-18
Points in the survey: 103
Highest Vote: 17 (4)
Lowest vote: 21 (2)
Last week: goodbye
Next week: Indianapolis

I'm not sure that a league team will need a week off more than the Jaguars. They need a rebound victory this week in Indy, where the hole could be too deep to escape.

19. TENNESSEE TITLES (4-4)

Last week's rank: 21
Points in the survey: 96
Highest Vote: 18 (1)
Lowest vote: 21 (1)
Last Week: 28-14 win in Dallas
Next week: vs. New England

The Titans had a backup-type win of the season Monday night in Dallas. Again, the AFC 's sixth seed is here to let someone go run and catch him, so why not the Titans? It could be theirs, even if they do not arrive in Houston.

20. MIAMI DOLPHINS (5-4)

Last week's rank: 22
Points in Poll: 94
Highest Vote: 17 (1)
Lowest vote: 22 (1)
Last week: 13-6 win over the New York Jets
Next week: Green Bay

An ugly victory is an ugly victory. The Dolphins' under-38 differential ranks 13th in the AFC, but they still have two dates with the Bills and can stay in the playoff race until the end.

21. DALLAS COWBOYS (3-5)

Last week's rankings: T-18
Points in Poll: 90
Highest Vote: 18 (3)
Lowest vote: 23 (2)
Last Week: Defeat 28-14 against Tennessee
Next week: Philadelphia

The Cowboys traded a first round pick against Amari Cooper because they thought they were ready to win now. They might soon realize what everyone was thinking at the time. Their next five games: Eagles, Falcons, Redskins, Saints and Eagles.

ORR: After the Cowboys have lost to the MNF Titans, how long can Jerry Jones defend himself?

22. INDIANAPOLIS COLTS (3-5)

Last week's rank: 23
Points in Poll: 78
Highest Vote: 19 (1)
Lowest vote: 23 (4)
Last week: goodbye
Next week: vs Jacksonville

It is difficult to declare a crucial match for both teams on November 11, but the Colts and Jaguars have just finished a week off and the loser will be reduced to 3-6.

23. LIONS DETROIT (3-5)

Last week's rank: 20
Points in Poll: 77
Highest Vote: 21 (1)
Lowest Voting: 23 (1)
Last week: 24-9 loss to Minnesota
Next week: Chicago

The Lions have been inconsistent and hard to read, but they still control part of their fate with two games against the Bears over the next three weeks.

24. DENVER BRONCOS (3-6)

Last week's rank: 24
Points in the poll: 63
Highest Vote: 24 (7)
Lowest Vote: 24 (7)
Last Week: Defeat 19-17 against Houston
Next week: Goodbye

Maybe Bill O'Brien said it best. (Maybe he did not do it.) Anyway, it's a little strange that our panel was unanimous in classifying the 24 Broncos. This is the first time of the year that a team is unanimous in another place than the first or the last.

25. TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS (3-5)

Last week's rank: 25
Points in Poll: 55
Highest Vote: 25 (6)
Lowest vote: 26 (1)
Last week: 42-28 loss to Carolina
Next week: against Washington

Maybe Dirk Koetter should just tell Ryan Fitzpatrick that he got some touchdowns early in the game, so he plays like he's in return mode.

26. NEW YORK JETS (3-6)

Last week rank: 26
Points in Poll: 46
Highest Vote: 26 (5)
Lowest vote: 28 (1)
Last week: defeat 13-6 in Miami
Next week: vs Buffalo

Things looked promising early, but it sounds like another familiar Jets season.

27. SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS (2-7)

Last week's rank: 30
Points in Poll: 40
Highest Vote: 25 (1)
Lowest vote: 28 (5)
Last week: win 34-3 against Oakland
Next week: vs New York Giants

Earlier this week, legendary football writer SI Dr. Z is dead. Tonight, screenshots of his power ranking since the week Tom Brady took over for Drew Bledsoe went on Twitter. I'm looking forward to seeing screenshots of this ranking when Nick Mullens wins his fifth Super Bowl.

28. CARDINALS OF ARIZONA (2-6)

Last week's rank: 28
Points in Poll: 35
Highest Vote: 27 (5)
Lowest vote: 32 (1)
Last week: goodbye
Next week: Kansas City

Listen, there is not much to say about the Cardinals after their week off.

29. CLEVELAND BROWNS (2-6-1)

Last week's rank: 27
Points in the poll: 30
Highest Vote: 27 (1)
Lowest vote: 30 (1)
Last Week: Defeat 37-21 against Kansas City
Next week: vs Atlanta

Sometimes a team responds during the first week with an acting head coach, but overthrowing the leaders was always going to be a big challenge. The season quickly turns to a familiar place for the Browns.

KLEMKO: Cleveland Dysfunction: Hue Jackson's Paranoid Final Days and Baker Mayfield Resilience

30. NEW YORK GIANTS (1-7)

Last week's rank: 29
Points in Poll: 22
Highest Vote: 29 (1)
Lowest vote: 30 (6)
Last week: goodbye
Next week: San Francisco

Listen, there is not much to say about the Giants after their week off.

31. BUFFALO INVOICES (2-7)

Last week's rank: 31
Points in Poll: 16
Highest Vote: 29 (1)
Lowest vote: 31 (6)
Last Week: Defeat 41-9 against Chicago
Next week: Jets New York

Aside from the jokes about the QB situation, the Bills played too many games for which they were not shy.

32. OAKLAND RAIDERS (1-7)

Last week rank: 32
Points in the poll: 8
Highest Vote: 31 (1)
Lowest vote: 32 (6)
Last week: 34-3 loss to San Francisco
Next week: vs Los Angeles Chargers

It's almost impressive that the Bills look so unfortunate and yet the Raiders are still clearly the worst team in the NFL.
