It's hard to imagine a wilder opening to the 2018 NFL season. The Philadelphia Eagles started their home defense with a first-week victory over the Atlanta Falcons. Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers made a strong comeback in the fourth quarter. And the Cleveland Browns ended their run of 17 losses – with a draw.
We have a long way to go before the Super Bowl LIII – or even before we know what history each team will have – but the first chapter of 2018 has been written. How did each team unfold? That's what we will determine here.
Each week at Bleacher Report, we will be distributing scores for each of the 32 teams based on the performance of the week. We will base these notes on the final results, as well as on the teams' performances when they arrive. There is no moral victory in the NFL, but not all losses will translate into an automatic "F".
So, how did your favorite team finish their first week? We will take a look.

Opponent: Washington Redskins
Result: Lost 24-6
The new Arizona Cardinals have had the chance to start the season with a big win. They hosted a Washington Redskins team with a makeshift backfield. They had their own star back in David Johnson for the first time in nearly a year and a quarter confirmed to Sam Bradford.
The Cardinals have been rather embarrassed in their new stadium, State Farm Stadium, and it's hard to know where to blame.
One game must be attributed to offensive coordinator Mike McCoy. He refused to regularly put the ball in Johnson's hands – he had only nine races – and he only seemed to use the back on short and intermediate journeys.
Bradford must also take responsibility. It was not a complete disaster, but it failed to repel the balloon. His longest passing game was 27 yards, but he only had 4.5 yards per attempt. This conservative attack never unbalances the Redskins.
Defensively, the Cardinals were not much better. They gave up 429 yards of total offense and failed to keep Arizona in the game.
On the plus side, Johnson scored his first touchdown since 2016.

In the final playoffs, the Atlanta Falcons played a close game against the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Division final. The Falcons had a chance to take the lead with about a minute behind, but the goal of Matt Ryan's match against Julio Jones became incomplete.
This week, the Falcons played a low-key fight against the Eagles. They had a chance to take the lead at the end of the allotted time, but Ryan's goal of going past Julio Jones was incomplete.
The big disappointment is that Atlanta had a full season to avenge its playoff loss and did not seem to be making any progress. The woes of the red zone of the 2017 team have obviously taken over, and it will be a problem if the Falcons hope to return to the post-season.
The entire blame offensive can not be placed on coordinator Steve Sarkisian, but it is clear that the attack is not as dynamic as under Kyle Shanahan. This team has too many weapons to take only three points during its first two trips in the red zone.
The defense did its part to keep the Falcons in the game. He held Nick Foles just 117 yards away and forced a pair of turnovers. The attack will have to do its part to rebound against the Carolina Panthers at the opening match next week at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Opponent: Buffalo Bills
Result: Won 47-3
Is Joe Flacco an elite? No, we have not come back yet, but if the Baltimore Ravens continue to play as they did in Week 1, we can do it. The Ravens humiliated the Buffalo Bills in a match that seemed only tight at the kickoff.
Flacco shone with 25 passes out of 34 for 236 yards and three touchdowns. Maybe first-round rookie Lamar Jackson has lit a fire under him, but Flacco looks like a different quarterback. This helps the Ravens get new weapons in Flacco during the off-season, acquiring Willie Snead IV, John Brown and Michael Crabtree. Flacco threw each of them a touchdown.
Alex Collins, Kenneth Dixon and Javorius Allen all rushed for the scores.
The Baltimore defense was really impressive in Sunday's game. He limited the starting quarterback Nathan Peterman to just 24 passing yards, doubled him twice and did not allow Buffalo to get his first run until the third quarter.
Baltimore has a quick turnaround as he will be on the road to face the Cincinnati Bengals on Thursday night in a match that will determine first place in the AFC North.

There is not much to say about Buffalo Week 1's performance, other than the fact that it was a total disaster and probably a sign that the season 2018 will be a lost cause.
The offensive was a joke with Peterman at the helm. One almost wonders if Peterman blackmailed head coach Sean McDermott in starting chances because he does not seem to belong to an NFL club.
Even LeSan McCoy has not been effective (seven rush attempts for 22 yards), but you have to wait for it when the opposing defensive has no respect for your passing game.
The Bills' defense did good things: she took a pair of sacks and held the Ravens at 3.4 yards per race, but the team was never able to commit a foul at the # 39; occasion.
On the plus side, the Bills fans quickly looked at Josh Allen, seventh overall. He was slightly better than Peterman (6 out of 15 for 74 yards), and if that were to be a lost season, there is little reason not to hand him the keys now.

Opponent: Dallas Cowboys
Result: Won 16-8
The hiring of Norv Turner as offensive coordinator could eventually change the way Carolina Panthers do business on this side of the ball. On Sunday, however, the offensive was very similar to that of 2017, which was Cam Newton's show.
That's not a problem when Newton plays effectively, which he did on Sunday in the Dallas Cowboys game at the Bank of America Stadium. He completed more than 65% of his passes, rushed for 58 yards and did not commit a turnover.
Unfortunately, Newton lost one of his best weapons when tight winger Greg Olsen was injured on foot. according to Andrew Siciliano from NFL MediaOlsen was on crutches and in a walking boot after leaving the game.
The Panthers also lost right tackle Daryl Williams to a knee injury.
Carolina's defense, especially the top seven, was superb against the Cowboys and their much vaunted offensive line with injuries and other health problems. He sacked Dak Prescott six times and, for the most part, held running back star Ezekiel Elliott. Although Elliott averaged more than four yards per race, he never left for a race that changed the game.
Panthers fans should be happy to win, but they would probably feel better if Carolina had produced more than 16 points.

Opponent: Green Bay Packers
Result: Lost 24-23
Chicago Bears fans must feel good about what they saw in a $ 141 million man, Khalil Mack. The new addition dominated the Green Bay Packers, racking up a sack, an interception, a forced fumble, a ground striker and a limited action defensive touchdown.
But Bears fans can not feel good with the final result, as their team let slip a 17-point lead in the fourth quarter, losing by one point.
Sometimes, however, quarterback Aaron Rodgers is just playing again, and no one can do it. His furious return aside, the Bears can find a lot to develop.
Mitchell Trubisky featured franchise quarterbacks, scoring 65.7% of his passes and rushing for 32 yards and a touchdown. He seemed to have more ease in attacking the pitch than last season with Allen Robinson and Taylor Gabriel on the field.
The defense, led by Mack, was impressive, at least for three quarters.
Chicago may not be a playoff team in 2018, but it will be relevant again in the North of the NFC.

Opponent: Indianapolis Colts
Result: Won 34-23
The Cincinnati Bengals hold a lead in the AFC North after Week 1, thanks to Andrew Luck 's injury return. They almost allowed the Indianapolis Colts quarterback to return in their first game since the 2016 campaign, but reserve goalkeeper Clayton Fejedelem forced a Jack Doyle fumble and returned 83 yards for a touchdown less of a minute. .
The Cincinnati offense was better than Year 1 under the direction of offensive coordinator Bill Lazor. Andy Dalton completed 21 of his 28 assists and threw two touchdowns, although he intercepted. Offensive half Joe Mixon produced 149 yards per scrum to score one point.
Second-year receiver John Ross finally clinched his first NFL game and first touchdown.
Defensively, it was a mixed bag. The Bengals forced two turnovers, including one that resulted in the winning score, but they allowed 380 yards of offense.
Without the final turnover, Cincinnati could easily have lost this match and could fight against more balanced teams. Still, the Bengals have some positives to consider, and a win against an elite quarter is always something you will take.

Opponent: Pittsburgh Steelers
Result: Attached 21-21
He feels so much Browns for Cleveland to end his run of 17 losses without winning. However, the fact that the Browns managed to face a talented member of the Pittsburgh Steelers team on a rainy rainy afternoon shows how much this team has changed since last season.
The Cleveland defense was a force, sacking Ben Roethlisberger four times and forcing six turnovers. The unit is going to be fun to watch in 2018. The Cleveland offense, however, not so much.
The Browns could not always move the ball, and it's fair to wonder if quarterback Tyrod Taylor (15-for-40 passing) is the right fit for the talent that surrounds him. The attack is the reason why the Browns could not win a match in which they had a differential of more than five points.
Since the Browns returned to the NFL in 1999, the teams with this turnover of turnover are 132-4-1.
For any other team, this game would result in a solid "C" or worse, but we should rank the Browns on a curve. After all, they put an end to a series of massive defeats and they did it against a rival of AFC North. Cleveland has ensured that he does not go to 0-16 in 2018; Now he has to work on putting one in the earnings column.

Opponent: Carolina Panthers
Result: Lost 16-8
Give the Cowboys defense credit. For a unit that has been decried in recent years, it seems to be increasing. He began making progress in 2017 – the year that Demarcus Lawrence emerged as one of the best defensemen in the league – and he held the Panthers in check for most quarters on Sunday.
Yes, Newton was able to do the great casual game, but the Cowboys limited Carolina to 16 points and stayed in the game.
The attack is where Dallas should have concerns. Prescott has not been able to push the ball down, and while Cole Beasley has received seven receptions for 73 yards, the Cowboys do not seem to have a decisive pass catch.
What is even more alarming is that the offensive line was a responsibility. He allowed six sacks and frequently saw Prescott struggling to avoid pressure. The line is supposed to be the force of the offense, but the group is not the same with the All-Pro Travis Frederick Center with Guillain-Barré Syndrome.
Dallas has questions to answer if she hopes to be a playoff team in 2018. Can the offensive line bounce back and start playing again? Can Prescott return to the form that he showed as a rookie without Dez Bryant or Jason Witten on the roster? The answer to week 1 was "no".

Opponent: Seattle Seahawks
Result: Won 27-24
What a difference a functional quarterback can make. Turnovers have always been a problem for the Denver Broncos attack (three interceptions), but Case Keenum managed a deep attack to keep the Seattle Seahawks out of balance and complete his team's defense.
The final result was a three-point win against a re-enacting Seahawks team that still brings a lot of talent to the table.
Keenum passed 329 yards and three touchdowns to go with his three choices. If he can start avoiding turnarounds, it may be the Broncos' answer under center. Denver could also have his answer in the backfield, while Phillip Lindsay and Royce Freeman rushed 71 yards each.
Denver's defense might not be what it once was, but it was solid. He granted only 306 yards of total offense, produced three turnovers and sent off Russell Wilson six times.
Admittedly, this was not a perfect match, but Denver showed that the teams can not forget this season.

The Detroit Lions will look to open the year 2018 and the Matt Patricia era with a home win against the New York Jets at Ford Field. Lions will also be looking for answers to questions about their racing game and their defense that were at best questionable during the pre-season.
They are trying to figure out what kind of team they have.
Can Patricia help turn the defense into a respectable unit after finishing the 2017 campaign ranked 27th? Can the new head coach offer the kind of winning culture he was a part of as Defensive Coordinator of the New England Patriots?
We will start getting answers in the first match of a double header on Monday night.

The Packers fans held their breath on Sunday night, when Rodgers briefly left the game with a knee injury. Green Bay is not close to the same team without him, and a long-term injury could have derailed his season before it started.
Rodgers returned, however, and he led a historic comeback, despite a strong defeat of his injured leg. The 17-point deficit was the largest in the Packers' history in the fourth quarter.
Rodgers insists that he will also be ready for the second week.
"I'm playing next week," Rodgers told Michele Tafoya (N / Mike Florio from Pro Football Talk).
There are, however, plenty of reasons to remain concerned about the chances of the Packers playoffs. The race match (3.8 yards per race) is still inconsistent and the defense is far from elitist. However, the offensive line must be the biggest concern. If this can not protect Rodgers to keep him healthy, the Packers will not go far.
We'll discover the kind of adjustment that Green Bay is able to do in the second week, when it will face the Minnesota Vikings, rival of NFC North.

Opponent: Patriots of New England
Result: Lost 27-20
The Houston Texans fans should be delighted that quarterback Deshaun Watson is back on the field for week 1. They were probably less pleased with his way of playing. The second-year quarter did not seem as decisive as a rookie, and the slowdown in the race made it a quarter less effective.
He finished the game just 17 of 34 for 176 yards with a touchdown and an interception. He ran eight times for 40 yards, but that's probably not what the team wants his quarterback to be doing a torn ACL.
While the final score indicates a tight match, this one has never been. The Texans did not get close to New England at seven points and their defense did not slow Tom Brady down. Yes, the unit fired him twice, but he rarely put pressure on him.
Houston needs to see more of Watson starting in 2017 if she hopes to have a shot at the post-season. To a certain extent, Texans can rely on the racing game, which has averaged 4.9 yards per race, but they must be able to stretch the air defenses. Watson (5.2 yards per attempt) did not do this Sunday at Gillette Stadium.

Opponent: Bengals of Cincinnati
Result: Lost 34-23
Luck was like his old life at Lucas Oil Stadium against the Bengals, and it's the biggest thing to pull out if you're a Colts fan. He had his team in position to take the lead late in the fourth quarter before Fejedelem picked up the ball from Doyle and returned 83 yards for a touchdown.
There are other positives, though. Eric Ebron (51 yards, one touchdown) seems to be a big part of the attack, as is rookie Nyheim Hines (seven receptions, 33 yards). The defense also looks like an improved unit.
Indianapolis held the Bengals 330 yards from attack and forced two turnovers. These are not dazzling statistics, but they show that the Indianapolis defense is not the sieve of most of 2017.
The offensive line seems to be better too, which is huge with Luck back under center. The signal caller was fired only twice by a good pass from Cincinnati. Fans should be relatively confident that they can stay healthy for a full season.
The running game, which averages only 3.4 yards per race, needs to be improved to balance the attack.

Opponent: New York Giants
Result: Won 20-15
The Jacksonville Jaguars did not seem easy, but they escaped the MetLife Stadium with a win against the New York Giants on Sunday. They did it without the carrier Leonard Fournette, who left the match with a thigh injury, and that was largely thanks to their defense.
This unit seems as dangerous as in 2017. This allowed rookie Saquon Barkley to win a 68-yard run. Otherwise, the big games were hard to find for the Giants.
Outside of this great race, Barkley has only accumulated 2.2 yards per run.
If Fournette misses an extended time, the Jaguars will have reasons to worry. The offensive proved ineffective without him: the Giants beat Jacksonville 19 yards and Blake Bortles only managed 54.5% of his passes. It required a 32-yard interception return from linebacker Myles Jack to give the Jaguars an 11-point lead in the fourth quarter.
Jacksonville will better understand his attack soon. He hosts the Patriots at EverBank Field in Week 2.

Opponent: Los Angeles Chargers
Result: Won 38-28
It is too early to say for sure that Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is the real deal. Based on the four quarters of 2018, it looks like it. The rookie burned the Los Angeles Chargers for 256 passing yards and four touchdowns without interceptions.
Of course, it helps when you have weapons like Tyreek Hill and Kareem Hunt.
If this was not Mahomes' first departure since Alex Smith left his full-time position, we would talk more about Hill, who was the real offensive star. He caught seven passes for 169 yards and two touchdowns. He also returned a 91-yard punt to score a point to launch the Kansas City offense.
Offensively, leaders seem ready to hang on to anyone. Defensively, there is still much to be desired – and this is a euphemism.
Kansas City allowed 541 yards of offense. While the defense forced two turnovers, that's not why the Chiefs won. They must limit big games because they can not win a shootout every week.

Another year, another slow start for the Chargers. They started Sunday's game against the rival leaders slowly (an early 14-3 hole), and the loss places them at the bottom of the AFC West.
However, there were positive points to remove. Quarterback Philip Rivers (424 yards, three touchdowns, one interception) showed no signs of aging at age 36, and running back Melvin Gordon III showed some ground bursts. He also proved his ability to catch up in the short game, catching nine passes for 102 yards. (Hunter Henry is out for the season with a torn ACL.)
Defensively, there are reasons to worry. Despite the fact that Melvin Ingram managed to get a high-pass – Joey Bosa missed the match – the Chargers have rarely put pressure on Mahomes. They could not contain the explosive offensive weapons of Kansas City.
They will have the chance to straighten the ship next week against the Bills at Ralph Wilson Stadium. They will have to do it if they hope to fight for a playoff spot.

Opponent: Tennessee Titans
Result: Won 27-24
Were the Miami dolphins perfect in the first week? Were they helped by serious injuries to the Tennessee Titans? Certainly. Will Dolphins fans win some of AFC East's head to start the 2018 season? You better believe it.
Quarterback Ryan Tannehill made two interceptions, but his return to the field was effective. He did not look like a signalman who missed all of 2017 and he completed 20 of his 28 attempts for 230 yards and two points.
Frank Gore and Kenyan Drake were effective on the field, both combined for 109 yards in just 23 runs.
The big thing is that Miami has talent in all three phases of the game. The defense intercepted three interceptions, Jakeem Grant returned a 102-yard kickoff for a score, and Kenny Stills caught four passes for 106 yards and two touchdowns, including one of 75 yards.
It's hard to say how good the Dolphins are going to be because they beat a team of Titans who were without quarterback Marcus Mariota for most of the game. Still, the opening of the season with a win is great, as is the fact that the Dolphins have their own starting signal.

Opponent: San Francisco 49ers
Result: Won 24-16
The San Francisco 49ers became NFL favorites after Jimmy Garoppolo took over at the quarterback. The Vikings took their best shot and managed to counter a difficult victory.
"They have destabilized us," said Minnesota head coach Mike Zimmer, by Michael Silver of NFL.com. "I had to make adjustments on the fly, change the fronts and the covers, we suffered injuries and had to move guys."
The Vikings faced a few injuries on Sunday, such as cornerback Trae Waynes, who suffered a knee injury. That helped the Vikings come off an effective match from Kirk Cousins, who finished 20-for-36 for 244 yards and two touchdowns.
Although the defense was enough to prevent it from becoming a shootout, Cousins and Co. had to score points to win. This is something that the Vikings will probably be able to do regularly, especially now that attacking midfielder Dalvin Cook (95 yards from the scrum) is in good health and back on the pitch.

At some point, Brady will fall off the proverbial cliff. It does not seem like this will happen in 2018, however. Brady was effective against the Texans, passing 277 yards and three touchdowns with an interception.
The Patriots' defense, which was a disaster in 2017, was especially effective. This allowed the Texans to shoot in a touchdown, but that prevented Houston from mounting a realistic return attempt. He also produced two turnovers and fired Watson three times.
The Texans only had 325 yards of attack.
There were not a lot of surprises, maybe other than the fact that the Patriots bent over Rex Burkhead in the racing game. He was not particularly effective however, rushing for only 64 yards in 18 races. Expect the patriots to put the ball in the hands of Sony Michel, once in good health.
It was a professional win for the most professional team in the league.

The Saints of New Orleans hoped to reach the Super Bowl in the season. They may not be here and their performance of the week 1 m recalled that of the Patriots at the last Super Bowl.
Drew Brees scored 439 yards and three touchdowns. Alvin Kamara racked up 29 yards, caught 112 yards and scored three times. Defender Michael Thomas caught 16 passes for 180 yards and one touchdown. Yet the saints have lost again.
If we learned anything from Sunday's game, it is that the defense of the Saints is perhaps not the emerging unit that we thought was last season. It was a responsibility, and that is why New Orleans has a share of the last place in the South of the NFC.
It is a difficult division, so the saints must find a way to strengthen the defense. New Orleans has another divisional game in two weeks against Atlanta.
On a positive note, the Saints' offense is the well-oiled machine that she has always been.

If there is a team that can attempt to win a moral victory in a defeat of Week 1, it is the Giants. They come from a 3-13 season and have faced a team that played some Super Bowl games last season, but at no time did it feel surpassed.
Barkley debuted and receiver Odell Beckham Jr. returned. Each of these two offensive stars exceeded 100 yards.
The New York defense, which was a handicap last season, helped keep the Giants in the game. Jacksonville only produced 305 yards and Bortles launched an interception.
Against many other teams, leaving only 20 points will allow the Giants to win. With Barkley and Beckham on the ground, they have too much firepower.
New York can not afford to rely on only two players. Eli Manning must involve players like Evan Engram (two caught, 18 yards).

This might not be a major surprise considering Seattle was going up against Von Miller and Co., but let's not forget that Wilson is one of the most mobile quarterbacks in the league.
The Seahawks have to figure out how to better protect Wilson or he isn't going to survive the season.
It didn't help matters that rookie first-round pick Rashaad Penny was virtually useless in the ground game (seven carries for eight yards). He was supposed to help give Seattle a solid rushing attack. On the bright side, Seattle may have itself a budding star in tight end Will Dissly (105 yards and a touchdown).

No Jameis Winston, no problem for the Buccaneers. With Ryan Fitzpatrick running the show, Tampa's offense looked as explosive as it has in recent memory, and fans may be wondering if they even want Winston back in the starting lineup.
It's worth noting that we've seen some greatness from Fitzpatrick before, but it has never lasted. Still, it's hard not to be impressed with his performance from Sunday. He passed for 417 yards, rushed for 36 more and scored five total touchdowns.
Fitzpatrick was helped immensely by Mike Evans and DeSean Jackson, who had 147 and 146 yards receiving, respectively.
Tampa's defense, on the other hand, is still a cause for concern. Yes, the Saints have one of the top offenses in the NFL, but the Buccaneers defense didn't even seem to be on the field at times. If not for a pair of fumble recoveries, the defense might have blown the game in a shootout.
This defense may prevent the Buccaneers from being a playoff team as it stands, but Tampa's offense is explosive enough to grab the rest of the NFC South's attention.

The Titans weren't blown out in Week 1, but it's difficult to imagine a game going worse. Tennessee lost a trio of starters during the game, including quarterback Marcus Mariota to an elbow injury. Offensive tackle Taylor Lewan got a concussion, and tight end Delanie Walker suffered an ankle injury.
According to NFL Media's Ian Rapoport, Walker will "presque certainement" miss the rest of the season with a fractured ankle.
The loss of Walker will be a big blow to a receiving corps that already lacked top-tier talent. In fact, the Titans offense as a whole was a mess against Miami. Mariota and Blaine Gabbert combined for three interceptions, and it took a 94-yard kickoff return from Darius Jennings to even pull within one score late.
The Titans have a lot of work to do if they're going to get back to the postseason in 2018. The first order of business will be getting Mariota back on the field because Tennessee won't want to rely on Gabbert against J.J. Watt and the Texans defense in Week 2.

The Alex Smith era in Washington didn't begin with a bang; it more appropriately began with some efficient, effective passing and limited mistakes. That, of course, is why the Redskins acquired Smith in the first place.
Of Smith's 21 completions, 13 went to running backs or tight ends, but the Washington offense didn't need to strike deep to move the ball.
This was largely because running backs Adrian Peterson and Chris Thompson forged a dangerous backfield duo. The two combined for 161 yards rushing, 133 yards receiving and two touchdowns.
Defensively, the Redskins were dominant where it mattered most. They limited chunk plays and didn't allow the Cardinals to score until the fourth quarter. They bottled up David Johnson until then and forced two turnovers along the way.
Arizona might not have been the toughest challenge for the new-look Redskins, but it's hard to argue with a one-sided Week 1 victory.
