Nick Mullens gets checked by Twitter as he shares the Raiders defense in first action

Nick Mullens had a good evening on Thursday. The 49ers quarterback got his first career start in the NFL and played the Oakland Raiders, but he was also verified on Twitter.

While Mullens was splitting the Raiders' defense, someone apparently noticed that he had not yet received the blue check confirming that the account of a public figure is legitimate. . While this is unfortunate, it is hard to blame Twitter since most of us knew nothing of Mullens before Thursday's game. We should not have either.

The 23-year-old quarterback is currently in his second season in the NFL, having been picked up by the 49ers as a non-recruited free agent in South Mississippi. He was part of the San Fran training team before ending up on the active player list following the knee injury suffered by Jimmy Garoppolo earlier this year.

He had not thrown the NFL's regular season pass by entering Thursday night. Like always.

And yet, his first start was so impressive that people had to become aware of it, including the good people of Twitter. So impressive that they decided to check it in the middle of the game.

It's a pretty good day for the child, if you ask me. And since the new standard seems to be the old tweets of the athletes digging and getting lost, it's a refreshing change of pace.

Meanwhile, J.J. Beathard is still injured and unverified on Twitter.
