LOS ANGELES – There were no rewards tragedies at the Hollywood Film Awards.

But there were dramas and entertainment during the night during which Brad Pitt made a surprise appearance (and healthy appearance).

Here are the highlights:

Nicole Kidman is crying, called her true love

Nicole Kidman is torn as soon as she has spoken up to accept the "Hollywood Career Achievement Award"

"I am very emotional these days, so much more than in the past," said Kidman pushing the boundaries.

Kidman is at the top of his rewards game with the dramas "Boy Erased" and "Destroyer" vying for contention. But the actress made a victory turn thanking her professional team that made her career possible.

"Then I met the man I love, the love of my life, Keith," said Kidman, watching her husband, Keith Urban, in the audience.

While the 12-year-old married couple was looking at the other side of the auditorium, there was no dry skin in the house.

Michelle Yeoh was passionate about diversity

The actors of "Crazy Rich Asians" gathered on the stage to accept the "Hollywood Breakout Ensemble Award". Star Constance Wu highlighted the importance of this landmark film for diversity by saying, "Have you ever seen so many Asians on stage at a Hollywood awards show?"

Michelle Yeoh, the impenetrable matriarch of the film, has launched a passionate rallying cry. "This is just the beginning, the doors are open, let us down," she said.

Anne Hathaway laughed at her award presentation

Anne Hathaway brilliantly skewered (but especially completed) her co-star "Les Miserables" Hugh Jackman of the podium.

But she did not go into her dark story of Jackman without making fun of her own outfit.

"I'm wearing a pleated sewing bedspread," Hathaway said before reprimanding Jackman with his story. Good game.

The room filled with Hollywood influencers showed the power of his affection for Glenn Close. The audience spontaneously stood up for an ovation while she took the stage to receive an actress award for "The Wife".

In the case of the Hollywood Film Awards, it is not the rewards that matter, but the reaction of the stars to the award of prizes that precede the actual voting time.

Always a diplomat, Close thanked his British co-star Jonathan Pryce for playing the role of her husband Joe Castleman in a film about a more talented wife.

"There was no American actor who wanted to be in a movie called" The Wife. "We had to go to Britain," said Close.

The director of "Black Panther" talked about inspiring children

Accept a price for "Black Panther," director Ryan Coogler admitted that he had not had the chance to spend many appointment evenings with his wife Zinzi Evans. But they came out last Saturday.

"We went to Target," he says, laughing.

While shopping, he was struck by the impact of his groundbreaking film on culture – especially by watching a young Hispanic boy asking his mother to buy a "Black Panther" outfit. He wanted to be the leader of Wakanda T & # 039; Challa for Halloween.

"It was me who spoke to my mother about getting a" Ninja Turtle "costume. It is now this Hispanic child who dresses up as a powerful superhero, "said Coogler.
