NEW YORK (WABC) –

NJ Transit and Amtrak services inside and outside Penn Station New Yor were suspended for hours on Saturday morning after wires fell on a train in the Hudson Tunnel.

The service finally resumed around 8:50 am with significant delays after the decommissioning of the north-east corridor train at around 23:45. Friday. The Amtrak overhead cables in the Hudson River tunnel were dislodged, hitting the train.

Another train circulating in New Jersey also became disabled when it struck debris west of the tunnel's north tube.

Both trains collectively have more than 1,000 passengers on board. They were stuck for a few hours until they were loaded onto rescue trains.

Amtrak tweeted that the teams were able to restore power to one track and that the trains would start moving soon. Crews continue to restore power to the other path.

Commuters traveling between New York and New Jersey may take PATH trains and NJ Transit buses as alternatives.
