Nobody bitten by Shark near Newcomb Hollow Beach in Wellfleet

Cape Cod officials confirm that one person was bitten by a shark off a beach in Wellfleet, Massachusetts.

According to Cape Cod National Seashore, the shark attack occurred approximately 300 meters south of Newcomb Hollow Beach, around 12:30 pm. the Saturday.

The victim was taken by ambulance to the Cape Cod Hospital. Their condition was not immediately known.

The park guards and the Wellfleet police are investigating the incident.

This is the second confirmed shark attack off Cape Cod this summer. Before that, it was six years ago that someone had been bitten by a shark in Massachusetts.

William Lytton, a 61-year-old doctor from New York, was bitten by a shark when he was in water eight to ten feet off Long Nook Beach in Truro on August 15. but the scientists said they thought it was a great white shark.

This summer has been extremely busy for sharks off Cape Cod.

Greg Skomal, a national marine biologist, said his team spotted nearly 150 great whites off Cape Cod in July, double the number of observations recorded in 2017.
