A major coastal storm is emerging in the south – and heading north-east as soon as it's the first northerner of the season.

Areas of heavy rain are moving in parts of the southeast Friday afternoon and heading towards the center of the Atlantic coastline.
The storm has already hit the coast of the Gulf of Mexico and Florida, where nearly 6 inches of rain fell Thursday near Daytona Beach.
Friday night heavy rains will make the night hard in parts of North Carolina and Virginia, including Raleigh, Richmond and Norfolk.
During the night, heavy rains will continue to move north, hammering corridor I-95.
The storm is expected to reach parts of Washington, DC and Baltimore on Friday night, then reach Philadelphia and New York after midnight.
The blowing winds will be the biggest threat of this storm.
Virginia and Maryland will see strong winds Friday night late, Philadelphia in New York will be affected early Saturday morning and New England will be exposed to high winds in the middle of the day.
Gusts of wind could reach up to 50 mph in Boston and up to 60 mph in Cape Cod.
Precipitation should be between 1 and 2 inches and isolated amounts can reach 3 inches.
Flash flood monitoring is in effect from northeastern New Jersey to Cape Cod.
As the storm moves north, northern New York State and northern New England may witness a combination of snow and rain beginning late Saturday morning.
Early on Sunday morning, the storm will dissipate, leaving only the possibility of persistent rain and snow showers in northern New York State and northern New England.
