A Republican leader from North Carolina used a fake photo to make fun of the physical appearance of Christine Blasey Ford, who accused Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh of being sexually assaulted.
Lanny Lancaster, president of the GOP for Cabarrus County, this week shared with Facebook about an image he claimed to be a teenage Ford, suggesting that it was not attractive enough to become a victim of sexual assault. Ford, a professor of California psychology, told the Senate Judiciary Committee last week that Kavanaugh had laid her on a bed, covered her mouth, and had tried to forcibly remove her clothes while They were in high school.
"It's the alleged victim of sexual assault. Wow, "Lancaster wrote in his message with the picture of a young woman wearing suspenders, wearing big glasses, according to News & Observer.
The picture is not Ford. It's actually a message that has been circulating on the Internet since at least 2012.
When contacted by News & Observer, Lancaster did not fail to complain and attacked the media.
"I did not say anything," Lancaster said. "I just said that's his picture. Basically, the media distorts the facts about this lady. All she said is invented. She has no proof whatsoever. I support this theory. "
He then launched a new attempt on Ford's physical appearance.
"The media want you to think that she was a beautiful young woman who was returning home after the tennis courts," Lancaster said. "I just wanted you to see the real person. I wanted people to see that it really is her.
Dallas Woodhouse, executive director of the Republican Party of North Carolina, said Sunday that Julie Swetnick – another Kavanaugh accuser – was a "criminal" who had helped "facilitate child rape."
Swetnick claimed that she had been the victim of a gang rape at a party in Yale to which Kavanaugh was present.
His lawyer, Michael Avenatti, told HuffPost Woodhouse that his comments were "the most egregious example of shaming a victim of sexual assault."
President Donald Trump himself has defended some of the charges of sexual misconduct against him by ridiculing the physical appearance of the accusers. "Look at her … I do not think so," he said.
The president also made fun of Ford at a campaign rally Tuesday night in Mississippi:
"I drank a beer, right? I had a beer! Trump said laughing, pretending to tell Ford's testimony in the Senate. "How did you come home? I do not remember. How did you get there? I do not remember. Where is the square? I do not remember. "
A report on the FBI's investigation into Kavanaugh's charges was sent to the Senate early Thursday. Democrats lamented the investigation was too thin for ignoring key witnesses, including Ford and Kavanaugh themselves.
