LOS ANGELES – Captains of Notre Dame have decided that it was in the interest of the team not to look at the rankings of college football games this season. When the show was about to begin, the TVs in the dining room would be off.
Following a 24-17 win against USC on Saturday night, which has crowned a 12-0 regular season for the Fighting Irish, this will no longer be the case.
"The first thing they told me is that they will have it Tuesday," said Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly.
It will not be official until another week, but since there is no more match to play, the Irish, ranked third, has secured a place in the playoffs.
"I think our way of playing has always been to win all of our games against four Top 25 teams, to win every week of the schedule we play," Kelly said. "We're in LA this week – I think, we're like a show on Broadway, we're opening up in a city near you – we were in New York last week in Chicago and San Diego." Travel affects people and this does not affect this group.
"If you give us some rest and allow us to play in a neutral site, I think we will play even better."
