Chris Leslie resigned from his position as Chancellor of the Shadow when Jeremy Corbyn won the leadership

Labor MP Chris Leslie lost the confidence of his party members in Nottingham East.

The former Chancellor of the Shadow is the latest of a number of virulent criticism of party leader, Jeremy Corbyn, to face such votes.

The result has no official weight, but recent changes to party rules facilitate the withdrawal of sitting members.

Mr. Leslie and his supporters boycotted the meeting, saying it was unfairly targeted.

Louise Regan said her goal was to win the next elections

Mr. Leslie has represented the constituency since 2010. He resigned as shadow chancellor when Jeremy Corbyn was elected.

Louise Regan, president of the Nottingham East Labor Party, said: "We voted overwhelmingly against MP Chris Leslie.

"But in reality, our most important goal is to leave tomorrow to campaign because we want to elect a Labor government."

Mr. Leslie said: "Unfortunately, some opinions are no longer tolerated in some parts of the Labor Party.

"But I have to weigh the opinions of a few dozen people at this meeting with the thousands of people who voted for me in the last election."

Luton South MLA Gavin Shuker, Enfield North MP Joan Ryan and Frank Field, who left the party earlier this month, are not eligible to vote.

Such votes have no official force within the Labor Party, but local activists could hold a "trigger vote", in which practicing Labor MPs might be forced to run as candidates in general elections.
