CARLSBAD, Calif. – If the Yankees do not have the space for Bryce Harper in the outfield,

Harper's agent, Scott Boras, said on SiriusXM radio that Harper could play first base for whichever team he signs with. While the Yankees' outfield is full, the team could use an early upgrade since Greg Bird and Luke can not be strong options.

Yankees general manager Brian Cashman, who did not comment on free agents, did not reveal if the Yankees would consider Harper for first base.

"Do I think Bryce Harper can play first base? I do not know, "Cashman said." Obviously he's extremely talented and athletic. "

Cashman has been flooded with issues around Harper and Manny Machado since the Yankees have the payroll flexibility to add either stars.

"We'll assess everything in the market place and how it might fit us," he said.

Eyes on the Phillies

The Phillies are a team to watch this winter they have the payroll flexibility to be able to add both Harper and Machado.

"This is a big payrolls franchise for a long, long time," Matt Klentak said. "We will be able to get back to that again."

Briefs
