NEW YORK (WABC) –

Officials from the National Meteorological Service will visit parts of the three-state region on Wednesday after torrential rains and high winds triggered several tornado warnings on Tuesday.

The storms caused wind and hail damage in parts of the Hudson and Connecticut Valley.

Trees and power lines were knocked down in several places, including Chappaqua, where a tree crashed against a house. Nobody was hurt.

The National Weather Service will examine the damage in Rockland, Westchester and Fairfield counties to determine if they were caused by tornadoes.
The Harlem Line service was temporarily delayed between Goldens Bridge and Chappaqua due to the destruction of trees in the Bedford Hills area.

The teams continued to work on the remaining track and the damaged third track to restore full service.

The Saw Mill River Drive also experienced closures Wednesday morning due to flooding.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time on Wednesday morning due to weather-related road closures, particularly in the northern suburbs.

On Long Island, the storm was strongest in Ronkonkoma, where a few hundred people lost their food. Most were restored Wednesday morning.
Several trees fell on parked cars. The owners described the storm as "very intense".

A house fire was probably caused by a flash in Yaphank. The owners reported that the fire was declared on the roof of the house.
