The National Meteorological Service confirmed that an EF0 tornado with sustained winds of 85 miles passed through Ronkonkoma Tuesday.

The tornado landed for three minutes at 11:20 pm, causing damage to homes and cars. The tornado's route was 400 meters long and 200 meters wide.

Officials traveled to parts of the tri-state region on Wednesday after torrential rains and high winds triggered several tornado warnings in the previous day's storms.

The inspectors are also examining the damage in the counties of Rockland, Westchester and Fairfield.

Storms resulted in high winds and hail in parts of the Hudson and Connecticut Valley, with some areas exposed to 2 to 4 inches of precipitation.

Trees and power lines were knocked down in several places, including Chappaqua, where a tree crashed against a house. Nobody was hurt.

The Metro-North Harlem Line line was temporarily delayed between Goldens Bridge and Chappaqua due to the destruction of trees in the Bedford Hills area, and crews continued to work on the remaining track and the damaged third rail to restore the line. full service.

The Saw Mill River Drive also experienced closures Wednesday morning due to flooding, and drivers are advised to provide additional time due to weather-related road closures, particularly in the suburbs. North.

Some schools also had delayed openings.

On Long Island, the storm was strongest in Ronkonkoma, where a few hundred people lost their food. Most were restored Wednesday morning.

Several trees fell on parked cars. The owners described the storm as "very intense".

A house fire was probably caused by a flash in Yaphank. The owners reported that the fire was declared on the roof of the house.
