NEW YORK (WABC) –

The remains of Hurricane Willa are expected to be part of a coastal storm that will hit the Three States region this weekend.

According to AccuWeather forecasts, the storm is expected to begin Friday afternoon off the coast of Carolina and take hold in the northeast of the country, with rain for Friday night.

The biggest rain of the Nor-easter, with the heaviest rains and the strongest winds, will take place from 3am to 11am on Saturday.

A few inches of rain could fall with this system, but the heaviest rains will likely remain offshore. The most noticeable impact could be wind gusts of up to 50 miles at the time, which could result in felled trees and power outages.

The storm could cause minor to moderate coastal flooding during high tide cycles and possible beach erosion. Coastal flood watches have been issued for parts of New York City, Long Island, New Jersey and Connecticut.

AccuWeather monitors snow potential in the highest elevations of Catskills and Poconos.

The storm will move north and gradually fade under Sunday showers, with mostly cloudy skies and a maximum of 58.
