NEW YORK (WABC) –

Flash Flood watches are in effect in parts of the New York area and tropical storm Michael is expected to bring heavy rains on Friday morning.

While the moisture of the powerful storm was uniting with a cold front in the area, the rain began to fall on Thursday morning and continued all day.

The strongest showers are expected from dawn until 8 am and the most affected areas will be the New Jersey coast and Suffolk County.

Minor floods have been reported on the roads and even inside the Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip, but have since receded.

Large trucks have blocked some Deal roads in New Jersey to prevent drivers from entering flooded roads.

Rain could make morning travel difficult, with the possibility of sudden floods in poorly drained areas.

The rain should end later on Friday morning. But a colder air will settle then, with a maximum of 62 and a minimum of 48 Friday night.
