The mother of a 1-year-old girl who was found dead Wednesday night in her Queens home is being questioned by police about the death.

New York Police Department officers arrived at the Auburndale home around 10 p.m. and found Elaina Torabi unresponsive, with a possible puncture wound and laceration to the head, according to an NYPD spokeswoman. The little girl was later pronounced dead at Flushing Hospital.

Elaina’s twin brother, who hasn’t been named, was found with bruises to his pelvis and possible broken ribs, according to the NYPD. The boy was taken to Cohen Children’s Medical Center in Queens in critical condition, police said.

The mother, who hasn’t been named by police or charged in the death, placed the call to 911, police said.

Three other girls found in the home, ages 5, 4 and 2, weren’t injured, according to police. Those children are now in the custody of the New York City Administration for Children’s Services.

Chanel Caraway, a spokeswoman for ACS, said “our top priority is protecting the safety and well-being of all children in New York City. We are investigating this case, and we have taken action to secure the safety of the other children in this home.”
