In Week 5, NFL odds continue to evolve as professional and amateur bettors become tied in the NFL's choices. In a match that opened as an 'em pick, the Ravens now have a -3 record against Baker Mayfield and the Browns. With the status of Dalvin Cook (Hamstring) still outstanding, the Vikings are now at +3 against the Eagles after being open at +2.5. And after opening at -7.5, the Rams are now favored by seven players on the road against the Seahawks in a match that also saw the Over-Under fall from 53.5 to 50.5. With NFL odds and spreads in motion and many stories to sort out, be sure to check out the NFL's choices and predictions at Week 5 from SportsLine's advanced computer model.
SportsLine's proprietary computer model grew from 176 to 80 last season and beat more than 95 percent of players in the CBS office pool in 2016 and 2017. It also outperformed 98 percent of the experts followed by NFLPickWatch. com during this period. In addition, he scored 48-34 points on the A selections last season, and the $ 100 bettors who have followed him in the last two seasons have won almost 4,000 $.
He went 11-4 in a week 4 unleashed and beat three of his four best spread selections, including Kansas City (-3.5) over Denver on Monday night. He is now 10-3 on the top-rated selections this season, extending his run to 58-37.
Now, he has simulated each shot 10,000 times and his selections at the 5th week of the NFL have been published.
One of the choices of the NFL's week 5, the model is over: the Chargers are home favorites by 5.5 points on the Raiders.
The Raiders have earned their first win since head coach Jon Gruden returned last week, compliments of the latest mistakes made by the Browns. However, the model does not expect this momentum to continue. Instead, expect the 2-2 chargers to come back above .500 with a convincing win.
Powered by a projection of more than 300 yards and two touchdowns for Philip Rivers, the SportsLine model expects the Chargers to cover 60% of the simulations, it also allows them to win 32-22 to cover easily. This final score also means that the over (53.5) has a value, so you can also lock this pick. The model also asks Chargers running back Melvin Gordon to shred the Raiders' defense, totaling nearly 130 yards in the scrum and at least one visit to the end zone.
Another NFL Week 5 player likes the model: the Rams (-7) start on the road and easily cover the gap against the Seahawks.
The Rams, who are now the favorites of the 2019 Super Bowl on sports betting, have passed the competition mark this season with an average margin of victory of more than 18 points. Seattle brings a run of two consecutive wins in Sunday's game, but victories over Dallas and Arizona do not inspire a ton of confidence.
With Earl Thomas (leg) in Seattle for the year, the model expects the Rams offensive to repeat this week. Jared Goff passes the ball to Brandin Cooks, Cooper Kupp and Robert Woods, who have each raised at least 70 yards, while Todd Gurley totals nearly 150 yards of offense. The Rams cover 55% of the simulations and you can save the sub (50.5) also because it pays 53% of the time. The model calls for a convincing win of 30-20 L.A. at CenturyLink Field, covering the gap with a goal to be won.
The model also offers a solid selection for the rematch of last year's NFC championship game between the Eagles and Vikings, and calls for a Super Bowl aspiring team to scare home.
What NFL choices can you confidently make in the fifth week? And which Super Bowl candidate is scary? Check out the latest NFL ratings below, then visit SportsLine to see which NFL teams have won more than 50% of the simulations, all from the model that has beaten 98% of the experts in the past two years.
