Ohio State QB Dwayne Haskins is on the verge of becoming a hot NFL name

Dwayne Haskins could be about to shoot a Jameis Winston, and we think it in the best possible way.

The parallels are there. Winston, a freshman in redshirt in 2013, replaced EJ Manuel, first choice of the NFL, and then propelled the Seminoles up. After one more season in college, Winston was No. 1 in the NFL draft.

Haskins has been great in three starts this season, the first time ever J. T. Barrett has not been to the Ohio State Bar. Haskins had 11 touchdowns and 890 yards on a single interception and played a key role in Ohio State's win over TCU # 15 on Saturday.

The sophomore in redshirt was the most fashionable quarterback in the 2016 category, according to the 247Sports Composite. He is 6 feet 3 with a bazooka for an arm. He puts sick numbers. And since he's eligible for the NFL after this year, we'll probably start hearing about the NFL's potential at Haskins soon.

Last year, CBSSports.com football writer Barton Simmons wrote that the state of Ohio should replace Barrett with Haskins if he wanted to reach the top of the playoffs. Simmons is now planning Haskins to climb the NFL Big Boards in 2019.

"I think you're going to start seeing his name become a regular at the NFL circles," Simmons said in the video above. "He throws one of the finest college footballs and we do not see what the recruiting analysts saw when we ranked him so high in the day.

"With Justin Herbert, Drew Lock, Will Grier – there are a lot of very good quarterbacks in this category – but I think Dwayne Haskins is starting to claim to be one of the best in terms of rising the NFL, "said Simmons.
