Ohio State Buckeyes to TCU Horned Frogs (+13)
Sat 9/15, 8:00 pm
Three things to know before betting on Ohio State-TCU:
1. On Saturday night, it will be Ohio State's toughest challenge early in the season: a night game on the road against TCU without head coach Urban Meyer. The Buckeyes have not needed Meyer's coaching ability yet, as they beat Oregon State and Rutgers opponents 129-34. But this match against the Horned Frogs should be different, because the TCU is legitimately talented and Gary Patterson is one of the best coaches in the country in terms of match preparation. This was particularly the case when it was an outsider from 10.5 to 21 points, where he is 7-1 against the gap in turn with TCU. However, Patterson's TCU team is a 0-8 against gap in home games in the first half of the year over the past two seasons. A great game of Buckeyes could quickly kill the Amon G. Carter stadium, and they have the explosive offensive to succeed.
2. Quarterback Dwayne Haskins was as good as expected. Considered a Heisman candidate before the season, the sophomore has already made nine touchdowns with only one choice. Is he able or not to approach this level of play against a good defense of TCU? It may be early, but the Horned Frogs have allowed only 212 passing yards. And they played a Sonny Dykes attack at week 2, so that figure has at least some significance. But SMU does not have the kind of talent that the Ohio State has on the ground. RBs Mike Weber and J.K. The Dobbins had 364 yards and four touchdowns behind Haskins, and they will continue to play games the rest of the season to eliminate quarterback pressure. Ohio State also has a surplus of offshore receiver, which will make Buckeyes' defense a nightmare for horned frogs.
3. Defensively, Nick Bosa's OSU may well be the most dominant player in college football. He will hear his name from the start of the NFL draft next year, but with the rest of the defensive line, he will terrorize the quarterbacks like Shawn Robinson until then. The second-year student of the TCU has all the athleticism in the world, as evidenced by her 112 yards and three touchdowns this season. This should help him escape from the Buckeyes race several times, but he can not escape it in any way. And Robinson needs a lot of work as a smuggler, which could make the difference on Saturday. Robinson completed 17 of his 24 assists against Southern in the first game of the TCU season, but he was only 15 of 28 for 146 yards with a touchdown and a choice against SMU last week. Even with skilled players like KaVontae Turpin and Darius Anderson around him, he will not find the day he's done against the Mustangs. It should be a long night for him.
The choice: Ohio State -13
