But where it departs from Riverdale is in the fact that we can totally buy in the tone of this show compared to his brother.
Sabrina lives in a dark world filled with black people who have the power to do evil. It's not such a big step to believe that there is a version of his universe that presents terrifying images and some of the most effective horror beats of recent years. The first alone contains one of the best fears of recent memory. And none of them are scary on the jump. This show plays with a complete game that gets what its audience wants.
Sabrina's icy adventures is a perfect streaming series for the October season. He gets the horror. It becomes supernatural. He gets the precise lack of subtlety necessary to achieve such a series. he understands everything. The show is a solid entry into the televised slate of the genre and may well become the best adaptation of Archie Comics so far in the years to come.
