(CNN)"One Tree Hill" filmed in Wilmington, North Carolina, and some of the stars in the series raise funds for the victims of Hurricane Florence.

Sophia Bush, who played Brooke Davis, asked fans to help in an Instagram publication Sunday in honor of the 15th anniversary of the series.

"If One Tree Hill felt like home, consider supporting the Carolinas with us with our #CapeFearlessChallenge to raise funds for #Florence's recovery," she wrote in the caption.

#CapeFearlessChallenge is, according to its site, an initiative of the "Women of One Tree Hill and Random Acts to help the residents of North Carolina affected by Hurricane Florence."

The series took place in the fictional town of Tree Hill, North Carolina, and first focused on the lives and loves of the half-brothers, Lucas Scott (played by Chad Michael Murray) and Nathan Scott (played by James Lafferty).

It took place from 2003 to 2012.

Lafferty also posted on Instagram, thanking his subscribers for celebrating the anniversary of "One Tree Hill".

"Looking back today, I remember that much of what I liked in the show was where it was shot: Wilmington, Caroline. North, "he writes. "It's a really special place with a heart and a soul all its own and for the moment, the people of Wilmington continue to suffer after Hurricane Florence."

He encouraged his followers to donate to the Red Cross or to buy a charity t-shirt designed by the show's female stars.

Last week, Hilarie Burton, who played the role of Peyton Sawyer in "One Tree Hill," posted a photo of her in the jersey, which features a glimpse of the state of North Carolina with the word "love".

"To NC with love !!!", read the legend. "Want this radical shirt? You want to help those affected by Hurricane Florence? You want to be the coolest girl in school? You can do all the above !?
