Opponents to Oregon's Right Face Off against Anti-Fascists in March in Portland

(Reuters) – Anti-fascist and right-wing activists clashed Saturday night in Portland, Oregon as violence erupted during a protest for a conservative Republican candidate in the US Senate , reported the media.

Scuffles erupted after anti-fascists launched protesters from the Patriot prayer group on the right with eggs, water bottles and firecrackers, the Oregonian newspaper reported. Patriot prayer group founder Joey Gibson presents himself for the Senate.

Police conducted a handful of arrests on both sides, and police seized utility knives, pepper spray and sticks, according to the newspaper.

A spokesman for Portland Police could not be reached immediately for comment.
