ORLANDO, Fla. – A man who claims to have a weapon has caused a massive police presence Monday morning at the Orlando Regional Medical Center, authorities said.
More than 20 police vehicles from Orlando are located at the hospital located at 52 W. W. Underwood.
"OPD units are currently at the ORMC (ER) in response to a male subject who claims to be in possession of a weapon," tweeted the Orlando police. "The negotiators of the crisis are on the scene.The situation is contained but in progress."
Orlando Health, the parent company of ORMC, tweeted that the emergency department is locked, but that all other areas are functioning normally.
Earlier, the police tweeted that people had to stay away from the scene.
Orlando Health tweeted that no injuries have been reported.
A witness told News 6 that they had been turned away from the hospital.
