Director Julius Avery Suzerain screened for the first time at Fantastic Fest on Saturday, and the thrilling war thriller is thrilling audiences. Collider praises the film's gore and drama mix and its commitment to the genre. The trailer offers enough to pique our interest – the Second World War, but with monsters of super-soldiers – but the first reactions promise a helluva trip.
Overlord is an explosion. This is a World War II film with a two-handed lens, behind enemy lines and with scary creatures. Good characters, beautiful pieces, a lot of fun. #FantasticFest

OVERLORD is a whim on the face. This film comes to us in the foreground and it does not relax once. If you watched the trailer, you know what it is, but do not get me wrong, Avery is fully committed to the drama of World War II and the madness of the zombies! And both efforts are ? !!

OVERLORD is a wishful fulfillment, "Kill evil nazis", mixed with an old-fashioned war movie, with REANIMATOR for good measure. The action beats are excellent, but Jovan Adepo, as a sensible leader who has to go to the bottom of the nets, really sold me on the movie. #FantasticFest pic.twitter.com/QRxWHsZCK5

Overlord: Man, what a fucking movie. The kind of big budget, B-Movie Perfection we desperately needed. Inglourious Basterds meets Indiana Jones and Re-Animator. Also, FANTASTIC casting. #FantasticFest

It is amazing that something exploited, exploitative, like Overlord, is widely disseminated. Filmed like a photo, taken seriously by all stakeholders, making the craziness that follows strong enough not to be silly. Very happy with this one

There is a surprising number of Nazi zombie movies. OVERLORD is by far the best and the most fun. A man of the second world war in a mission film, a zombie movie on Frankenstein, all fun. See this one big and strong when you have the opportunity. pic.twitter.com/CpG5LP3hcC

Enter #A silent place and #Suzerain, give Paramount some credibility for taking a chance on two major genre films this year. Both are completely different, but both feel fresh and bring something new to the table

Overlord was a nightmare ride on the road to hell, chained to the back of a monster truck driven by pure adrenaline. @fantasticfest
