GAZA (Reuters) – Israeli forces killed a Palestinian who was part of a group of Gazans who launched tires and fireworks at a demonstration along the border on Sunday, officials said in Gaza. .

A spokesman for the Israeli army said that "hundreds of riots and protesters" had gathered along the border.

"The rioters burned tires and threw tires and firecrackers," the spokesman said, adding that the soldiers "reacted with means of riot dispersal" and operated "in accordance with standard operating procedures."

Gaza's health ministry said one Palestinian was shot dead and 20 wounded. The killed man belonged to a group that is trying to distract Israeli soldiers with tires and firecrackers, medical officials said.
