Police said at least 12 people were injured during a Lil Wayne concert in Atlanta on Sunday, as spectators reacted to a "shot shot," warned by the crowd.
Pandemonium burst about five songs into the rapper's set during the annual A3C festival Sunday night as members of the crowd tried to flee the scene after the warning, police said.
Officers from the Atlanta Police Department said they were "unable to find evidence to support allegations of gunfire.
Most injuries were minor, according to the department, which investigates the scene.
The organizers of the A3C festival attributed the incident to "an altercation" in a statement late Sunday, but without providing additional details. There were no weapons involved, according to A3C.
"Unfortunately, there was an altercation tonight that ended Lil Wayne's performance," the statement said. "It was a very unfortunate way to end a week of music, friendships and extraordinary relationships."
"About twelve minor injuries have been reported to the police, such as ankle injuries and lacerations resulting from an attempt to cross fences," the department said in a statement. "The venue of the event is being cleaned by the police."
The performance ended early due to panic.
Wayne tweeted that he hoped everyone was safe after the incident.
I hope everyone at A3C is safe! ????
