EL PASO, Texas – The El Paso Children's Hospital and the Mattress Firm organized the first takeover of Topgolf to raise funds for cancer research in children on Saturday.
The event, "PARTEE with a Purpose," raises public awareness at the end of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.
According to the National Cancer Institute, "In the United States, in 2018, approximately 10,590 new cases of cancer will be diagnosed in children under 14, and approximately 1,180 children are expected to die. Although cancer mortality rates for this age group have decreased by 57% over the last four decades, cancer remains the leading cause of death from illness among children. "
The El Paso Children's Hospital strives to keep the children of the city and provide them with the best level of care.
"Part of what we are doing today with ParteE with a Purpose is to provide our children with better access, continued access to [cancer-related] Cindy Stout, CEO of Children's Hospital, said, "So, all the funds raised today will go directly to programs to continue building them in the hospital."
The event started at 8:30 and continued until 23:30.
