CAPE CANAVERAL, Florida – The passengers of a Carnival Cruise began to panic after an ailing stabilizer temporarily rocked the vessel last week.

WKMG said the boat had rocked for several hours after leaving Port Canaveral last Sunday night.

"Plates and cutlery have begun to slide tables," said guest David Crews of Long Island. "Then the tables themselves started to slide in. Panic."

The ship continued its cruise in the Caribbean one week after returning to normal. The photos show guests in lifejackets so the rest of the night is safe.

The Carnival Cruise Line issued the following statement:

Sunday night, Carnival Sunshine encountered a technical problem that caused the registration of the ship. The safe operation of the ship was never a problem and our officers quickly intervened to remedy the situation.

Following the incident, the evening resumed for our guests. Carnival Sunshine continued its cruise in the Caribbean as planned. We are sorry for the disruption it caused. The ship remains fully operational and will sail as planned. We remain confident in the safety of the ship and we are committed to ensuring the safety of our guests and our crew.
