Mahomes has been the biggest story of the season so far. The second-year quarterback leads the NFL with 14 touchdown passes, has not yet returned the ball and has the Chiefs as the only remaining undefeated team in the AFC.
Although he is one of the most accomplished quarterbacks in league history, Brees has never won the most valuable player title. The future Hall of Fame has quietly another outstanding season, leading the league in completion percentage (75.8) and ranking seventh with 323.8 passing yards per game.
A pair of halves-Todd Gurley (+1400) and Alvin Kamara (+1600)– interrupt the race with the favorite quarters to win the MVP title. Both players are tied at the top of the championship with six touchdowns overall, but Kamara has the advantage in total batting yards (611 to 532).
The problem for Gurley and Kamara in the MVP race is that they could potentially be subject to a vote-sharing with Goff and Brees.
The biggest surprise on the MVP's favorites list is quarterback Joe Flacco (+2000) of the Baltimore Ravens. The team drafted Lamar Jackson in the first round, seeming to announce the end of the Flacco era in the near future. The 33-year-old reacted by scoring 1,252 yards and eight touchdowns in four games.
The incredible debut of Khalil Mack places him as a dormant candidate at MVP at +3300. The Chicago Bears star ranks second among all defensive players with five sacks and four forced fumbles.
No defensive player has won the NFL MVP since Lawrence Taylor in 1986. Mack is fighting for the position because of his position, but he is doing his best to be discussed with all of these offensive stars .
