CARSON, Calif. – Patrick Mahomes was notified in his turn and only started as a rookie last season that he had the ability to be a high-quality NFL quarterback.
He notified Sunday that it was not a fluke. Mahomes collected 256 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Chiefs to a 38-28 win over the Los Angeles Chargers.
Mahomes' favorite target was Tyreek Hill, who had seven passes for 169 yards, including a 58-yard touchdown on Kansas City's third pass.

This game allowed the Chiefs to take 14-3. Mahomes then launched three more TD passes, one at Hill, "From Anthony Thomas and Anthony Sherman, but perhaps the best part of his game over the last three quarters has been his avoidance of the game-changing mistake that affects so many young quarterbacks.
Mahomes did not initiate any interception. The Chiefs scored less than two minutes into the match and led the rest of the way, not least because Kansas City did not make any changes.
Mahomes showed a pace with Hill throughout the training camp and preseason. It has never been more obvious than Sunday, when he caught almost as many passes as the rest of the Kansas City receivers combined.
Hill also returned a 91-yard kick for the first Kansas City touchdown. He has nine touchdowns of at least 50 yards since the 15th week of the 2016 season. No other NFL player has more than four players in this period.
Four of Hill's long TDs came against the Chargers.
