Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is quickly becoming the breakout star of the NFL season. With the Chiefs 4-0 and Mahomes throwing footballs out of stadiums, it can be easy for him to get a little overconfident.
Luckily for Mahomes, though, he has a locker room that won’t hesitate to bring him back down to Earth.
The Chiefs quarterback told ESPN that making fun of his voice has turned into a running joke within the locker room. Nobody has a better impersonation than head coach Andy Reid, apparently.
Mahomes said:
“If I have ever gotten too big of a head, they just kinda bring out the voice. They try to mimic my voice. That’s kinda gotten its thing in the locker room.”
Mahomes grew up in the East Texas town of Whitehouse, and his voice has every bit of those Texas roots. But man, if Reid really does have the “perfect” Patrick Mahomes voice, we need — NEED! — to hear it.
Unfortunately, Mahomes says that Reid will never break out the impression in front of people.
