Patrick Reed shook the golf world on Monday with his brutally honest comments on Captain Jim Furyk's decisions.
One of his most notable quotes: Regarding Furyk who does not associate him with Jordan Spieth, he said this in the New York Times:
"The problem is obviously that Jordan does not want to play with me," said Reed, adding, "I have no problem with Jordan. In the end, I m not care if I like the person with whom I am twinned or if the person likes me as long as it works and the team succeeds. He and I know how to improve each other. We know how to do the job. "
But according to an anonymous person on the American team, Reed does not really want to play with Spieth. From the New York Post:
A US team member who was not playing, who was in the team room all week and had an intimate knowledge of what was going on was furious when he saw Reed complaining about not being associated in Spieth.
"He's so drunk on," the source told The Post on Monday, "I've blinded my ass." He begged to play with Tiger (Woods).
Reed ended up playing with Woods, a strong couple on paper. But this same anonymous source had more to say about Reed's performance and behavior:
"I watched every shot he hit, and he would have shot 83 on his own ball Saturday," the source said. "He totally screwed Tiger. He has no idea how to play golf in teams. I saw first-hand how he was a team player. Eleven players understood the concept of team golf and only one did not understand. Unfortunately, this one proved to be too expensive to overcome for the team.
"I feel so bad for Jim because he was an unreal captain."
